October 15, 2026
Where in Bayonne do you need to be over the next three weeks? Line up the city's calendar for the rest of October against a map, and most dates land on Broadway or Avenue C. Broadway has the farmers' market's final Tuesday, and in past years it has also hosted the Bergen Point festival. Avenue C has a heritage parade, a party in a church hall, and a public meeting about the future of Kennedy Boulevard. Only one major date sits off those two streets.
October in Bayonne opened as a heritage month before it was anything else. The City of Bayonne's calendar listed a Polish Flag-Raising at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, and a Filipino American Music and Food Festival at noon the next day. This week continues the run. The city calendar shows an Italian Flag-Raising at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, and an Egyptian Flag-Raising at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. The calendar doesn't give a location for either ceremony.
The Italian Flag-Raising leads straight into the largest heritage event of the month, which comes ten days later on Avenue C. That parade is the center of the calendar's back half, and the other dates fall around it.
The Saturday-morning skate camp is also running. The Division of Recreation's five-week Fall Skateboarding Camp started Oct. 3 at the 1st Street Skate Park and ends Saturday, Oct. 31. It runs two sessions, 10 to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon. The camp is open to Bayonne residents in 1st through 8th grade, with up to 15 skaters per session, at $50 per participant per session. Skaters bring their own board and safety gear. Registration is through the City of Bayonne's recreation portal, and the Division of Recreation answers questions at 201-858-6129.
The busiest part of the month runs from Thursday, Oct. 15, through Tuesday, Oct. 27.
| Date | Event | Where | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thu., Oct. 15 | Calming Sirens, sensory-friendly Touch-a-Truck | Lower portion of 16th Street Park | 5 to 7 p.m. |
| Sat., Oct. 17 | Bergen Point Fall Festival | Not yet posted for 2026, Broadway in 2025 | Not yet posted for 2026 |
| Sun., Oct. 18 | 2026 Bayonne Italian Heritage Parade | Avenue C, 56th Street to Devlin Drive | 1 to 5 p.m. |
| Sun., Oct. 18 | Post-Parade Party | St. Vincent's Church Hall, 979 Avenue C | 2 to 5 p.m. |
| Mon., Oct. 19 | Public meeting on Bus Rapid Transit | Bayonne Public Library | 6 to 8 p.m. |
| Tue., Oct. 27 | Last scheduled Bayonne Farmers' Market | West 23rd Street, between DelMonte Drive and Broadway | 2 to 7 p.m. |
Three of these six entries are confirmed on Broadway or Avenue C. If the festival returns to Broadway as it did in 2025, that makes four. Saturday's festival, Sunday's parade and Monday's meeting fall on three days in a row.
Broadway has the last market day and, judging by recent years, the first big outdoor weekend too.
The Bergen Point Fall Festival is on the city calendar for Saturday, Oct. 17. The calendar entry has only the date. The location, hours, block boundaries and activity lineup for 2026 haven't been published in anything we found, so the details below come from last year and may change.
In 2025, the City's announcement for that year's festival credited the City of Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone and the Bergen Point merchants. It placed the festival on Broadway from 5th Street to Evergreen Street, from noon to 6 p.m. The 2025 lineup included live music, inflatables, balloon sculpture, face-painting, a caricaturist, a dog costume contest, a zip line, food, shopping and specialty vendors. The dog costume contest goes back a long way. TAPinto Bayonne's 2018 preview listed it too, along with the same noon-to-6 p.m. window on Broadway starting at 5th Street, although that year's route ended at Cottage Street. If your plans depend on a specific attraction, wait for the 2026 announcement to confirm it.
Ten days later, Broadway closes out the season further up the peninsula. According to the City's market notice, the Bayonne Farmers' Market runs on Tuesdays from 2 to 7 p.m. on West 23rd Street between DelMonte Drive and Broadway, and its last scheduled date is Tuesday, Oct. 27. The notice gives an opening date of Tuesday, May 26. It doesn't print a year, but both dates fall on Tuesdays in 2026, which would make Oct. 27 the last Tuesday afternoon of a season lasting about five months. The same notice says the Office on Aging is giving seniors in the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program electronic vouchers, which farmers scan at the stand for each purchase. The office can be reached at 201-858-6119.
The heritage events that started with this week's flag-raisings peak on Avenue C on Sunday, Oct. 18. The 2026 Bayonne Italian Heritage Parade runs on Avenue C from 56th Street to Devlin Drive, with the event listed from 1 to 5 p.m. Afterward, the Post-Parade Party runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at St. Vincent's Church Hall, 979 Avenue C. The organizer is the Bayonne Heritage Association. Its stated mission is to honor cultural traditions, recognize local leaders and build community spirit through events such as the annual Italian Parade. Tickets for the party, along with parade sponsorships and journal ads, are on the association's event page. The organization's own site is bayonneheritage.org.
The next evening, Avenue C hosts a different kind of event, one that's about the future more than tradition. Hudson County is studying whether Bus Rapid Transit could work on Kennedy Boulevard in Bayonne and Jersey City. The county will hold a public meeting on the idea Monday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bayonne Public Library. The library is at 697 Avenue C. The statement on the City of Bayonne homepage describes BRT as a way "to deploy faster more reliable bus services with fewer stops, and improved shelters," adding that "it operates more like a light rail system and less like a traditional local bus." It asks attendees to "listen, ask questions, and express candid views on the BRT proposal."
Most events this month celebrate something Bayonne already has. This meeting is where residents can weigh in on how they might get around the city in the future. Kennedy Boulevard isn't one of the two streets, but the conversation about it takes place on one of them, the night after the parade.
Calming Sirens is the one major date in this stretch that isn't on Broadway or Avenue C. It's a free, sensory-friendly Touch-a-Truck event on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the lower portion of 16th Street Park, according to TAPinto Bayonne's Oct. 4 announcement. It's on a weeknight, it lasts two hours, and it comes two days before the Bergen Point festival.
For dinner after any of these, one of the newer options is also off both main streets. Haven House, which bills itself as an "eatertainment" restaurant with international food, coffee and desserts, is open at 151 East Centre Street in Bay 151, as Jersey Digs reported in July.
To fit the busiest part of the calendar into one long weekend, here's a sequence based on the confirmed times:
Then Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 7 p.m., is the last scheduled afternoon of the season at the farmers' market on West 23rd Street.
The City's calendar also shows early voting for the general election starting Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. and continuing daily through Sunday, Nov. 1. That puts the market's last Tuesday in the middle of early voting.
